For the third straight year, the High Prairie Fire-Rescue Society's FireChase Team was proud to present the 2006 Annual HPFD 5 & 10 Kilometer FireChase Fun-Run & Walk event, held on Sunday, October 1st! With the Community Health Department of Peace Country Health jumping on-board to organize a number of activities and games for children of all ages, the 2006 FireChase was arguably the most successful event to-date.
The event enjoyed a huge success in bringing the community members of High Prairie and the M.D. of Big Lakes together to enjoy one of High Prairie's great resources: the Riana Otto Memorial Trail along Jay-Cee Park!
As one of the HPFD's largest community events of the year, it is thoroughly enjoyed by all who participate: Competitive runners, leisure walkers, school groups, youth groups, emergency services personnel as well as local media talent! Whether you are young or young-at-heart, it's always guaranteed to be a great time!

Oh, Canada! On July 1st, the HPFD attended the Pioneer Threshman's Association Canada Day Celebration at Triangle for a day packed with Demolition Derbies, Antique Parades and Lumberjack Sports! Crew members were asked to enter a four-person team in the Lumberjack Sports and had a blast in their participation! The team came in a close third in the overall competition, with SRD in 2nd place and Tolko Industries dominating the events.

Lending a helping hand to the High Prairie Lion's Club in the summer of 2005, High Prairie Fire Department Members were able to come together and set up brand new playground equipment for neighborhood children in High Prairie. In return, the Lion's club made a generous donation for the department's time and effort.

In June 2006, the High Prairie Fire Department received a generous donation in the amount of $5000.00 for the purchase of four 4-head gas monitors from Plains Marketing Canada. Upon purchasing the gas monitors, one was placed in each of the primary response apparatus. A very warm "Thank You" to our friends at Plains Marketing!

Well... for the second year in a row, the High Prairie District Office for ATCO Electric has come through for the HPFD Fire Prevention Program! (Firefighter) Mel Beaudette, Manager of the High Prairie District Office, has ensured that the children and community-at-large will have access to various activities, coloring books, home escape plans, temporary tattoos, bookmarks, growth charts and a ton of other great stuff when they come to the Fire Hall for a visit!
In addition to making sure the Fire Prevention supplies are in abundance for the HPFD, (Firefighter) Mel Beaudette also always makes sure that Louis The Lightening Bug's schedule allows him to attend the annual HPFD FireChase every Fall so he can come see all the kids that come out to participate in the event! Thanks Mel!
ATCO Electric is a proud sponsor of Fire Prevention Week in partnership with the Alberta Fire Commissioner's Office, held every October, nationally. This year's Fire Prevention Week theme is Preventing Cooking Fires: Watch What You Heat.
Seen here at the 2005 HPFD FireChase is (Firefighter) Mel "Buzz" Beaudette of ATCO Electric, High Prairie District Manager.
